Recent Internal Activities
Objectives
- To enhance the awareness about the EUAsiaGrid project and the Grid paradigm in the region, carefully identifying the target audience, the dissemination method and the message content and design
- To facilitate the information and experience exchange within the project and for the potential new research communities of possibilities and benefits of using the EGEE middleware;
- To encourage new user communities to use the e-Infrastructure for their applications
- To promote EUAsiaGrid as a Grid service facilitator to the user communities among Asia Pacific region.
Description of work
WP 4.1 Production of dissemination materials:
It is crucial to provide information on EUAsiaGrid e-Infrastructure, applications and services to the research community in the Asia Pacific region. Thus, dissemination will develop both digital communications and printed materials, taking into account regional peculiarities, to disseminate the project outputs and advertise the e-Science paradigm in the region. The printed promotion materials include basic information about the project and its related activities, information on advanced Grid tools and services as well as detailed descriptions of the applications running on the EUAsiaGrid infrastructure. This workpackage will also produce news releases on partners'activities, new applications joining or success stories arising from the project. An editor from Asia will contribute to the writing of the iSGTW weekly bulletin, and possibly other electronic media. WP4 partners are encouraged to translate them into local languages and distribute them within their countries.
WP 4.2 Websites:
The dissemination activity will disseminate the information about the project (such as relative activities, plans, roadmaps, etc.) in the region and in international context, to give it the widest possible visibility. To achieve this and to provide a framework to promote EUAsiaGrid, a project web server will be deployed that will continuously update information about the usage and deployment of services using the Grid, about project activities as well as partners activities and links to related EC and global activities. This website will not only serve as a contact point to all partner institutions and user communities, but also serve as a repository for news releases and information materials. As the project is supporting multinational collaboration, each partner will maintain a local EUAsiaGrid website as well as federate the information provided into their own national or community specific websites where appropriate.
To facilitate the remote collaboration and communication, WP4 will make use of mail lists and web based collaborative tools to enable notification and communication.
WP 4.3 Events organisation:
The dissemination activity will both organize events (such as an EUAsiaGrid Project Conference) and support other international events. It will take advantage of the annual ISGC (International Symposium on Grid Computing), one of the biggest fora among the Asia Pacific Grid user communities, to exchange information between European and Asian partners. The annual event of ISGC attracts middleware developers, end users, project leaders and policy makers from Europe, Asia and USA. Hence, the joint meetings of ISGC and EUAsiaGrid Project Conference will be a key vehicle for communication with the European and Asian user communities, both for dissemination information about the project plan and for receiving their direct feedback.
Participation in international events such as OGF and EGEE conferences is also a key point to publicise the project in an international context, to exchange experiences and expertise and to look for new liaisons. In addition, contributions will also be made to other relevant conferences, meetings and workshops being held by EUAsiaGrid partners, e.g., the HealthGrid conferences or the International Conference on e-Social Science. In collaboration with WP3 and WP5, WP 4.2 will support training events and other activities to engage and support current as well as new user communities. Such support includes publicising events on the EUAsiaGrid website, providing promotional materials and event-organising consultation.
